The right car insurance can provide peace of mind and cover the cost of any damage that may happen to your car due to theft or collision. Auto insurance is important because it is financial protection in case of an accident that leads to the injury or damage of the car of a third party. Car insurance also protects your vehicle from damage caused by an accident or a different covered peril like falling objects, fire or theft.
The most important coverage is your state’s minimum liability and property damage coverage. More than anything else, car insurance is essential to keep yourself legal to drive. You stand a risk of losing your driver’s license and getting fined for driving without it.
Depending on what type of coverage your car insurance contains, you could be protected from a variety of perils. Such as fire, theft, vandalism, hail damage, animal damage etc.
The importance of car insurance extends beyond collisions and accidents. If your car is stolen, you could file a claim with your car insurance company and they could pay to replace your car up to your policy’s limit. However, if your car were stolen when you don’t have car insurance, or have only a limited amount of coverage, you are going to be stuck paying for a new car on your own.
In a situation where you get into a car accident without car insurance, you face fines for not having insurance, plus additional fines if you are ticketed for the accident. On the other hand, if you have auto insurance, your policy would cover the other driver’s medical bills and the cost to replace their car that is if your insurance policy limit is up to the cost.
There are several types of car insurance policies in Australia. Comprehensive, third party and theft, third party property and compulsory third party.
Comprehensive Third Party
Comprehensive third party insurance covers you in more circumstances than any other type of car insurance. With comprehensive car insurance, you have the chance to claim on your policy if you are in an accident and your vehicle or someone else’s is damaged regardless of that is at fault.
Third-Party Fire and Theft
While Third Party Fire and Theft policies do not typically cover you for repair costs to your vehicle if you are at fault, it will cover repair costs for other vehicles you hit (or property you damage). It also pays for repairs or replacement when your car is stolen or damaged in a fire, provided you aren’t at fault.
Compulsory Third Party
Everyone requires compulsory third party (CTP) insurance. Also known as Greenship insurance or the Transport Accident Charge in some states. It covers your liability if a driver or pedestrian is injured or killed by your actions on the road. It is typically paid for when you renew your registration.
Depending on your preference, we put in place different insurance coverage policies and you could select the one that matches your need. Insurance is very important protection after purchasing your new vehicle and our team of experts is there to see you through the process.
